Before you start

You must be signed in to Beyond Accounts to see your sessions or to sign out everywhere. Signing out of one product is done inside that product.

Two kinds of session

When you sign in at Accounts you hold one Accounts session in that browser. Each product you open from it receives a product session of its own, derived from that login. Sessions and single sign-on explains the model; this page is about ending them.

See where you are signed in

Open Sign-in and sessions. The panel Where you are signed in lists every live session of your account:

  • Accounts, or the identifier of the product the session belongs to, for example delegate;
  • "Signed in {date}" and "Ends {date}";
  • the tag This browser on the session you are using.

With nothing else open it says "No other sessions."

Sign out of this device

Choose Sign out in the header of Accounts.

Expected outcome: you return to the Sign in screen. The Accounts session of this browser ends, and so do the product sessions that were opened from it, because they have no authority of their own. Sessions you opened from another browser or device stay as they were.

To leave only one product and stay signed in at Accounts and everywhere else, use that product's own sign-out instead. In Delegate it is Sign out in your profile menu; it ends the Delegate session and leaves your Accounts session alone.

Sign out everywhere

Use this when you think someone else may be using your account, after recovering access, or when you lost a device.

  1. Open Sign-in and sessions.
  2. In Where you are signed in, choose Sign out everywhere. There is no confirmation step.

Expected outcome: a message with the number of sessions that ended ("One session ended." or "{count} sessions ended."), and then the Sign in screen, because the session you were using ended too. Every session of your account stops: at Accounts and in every product, on every device.

What products do when your session ends

A product does not ask Accounts about you on every click. It reads a list of ended sessions and changed memberships that Accounts publishes, and applies it:

  • Delegate ends the Delegate sessions that came from the login that ended. The next thing you do there shows its sign-in screen with "Your session ended. Sign in again to continue." Text you were typing is handled as described in Delegate recovery.
  • Workspace and CDN end or refuse the sessions they derived in the same way. Their user guides are not published yet.

When a product cannot reach Accounts at all, it keeps honoring the last thing it read for a short tolerance and then refuses, with a message that says the platform is unreachable. That is not a sign-out and not a refusal of you: see Platform unreachable in Delegate.

Messages about your session

You see in Accounts Meaning What to do
"Your session expired. Sign in to continue." The session reached its end time Sign in again
"Your session ended. Sign in to continue." The session was ended: you signed out elsewhere, signed out everywhere, or it was ended for you Sign in again. If you did not do it, recover access and sign out everywhere
"This account cannot sign in. Contact whoever administers it." The account is suspended See below

Suspension

A suspended account cannot sign in, and signing in again changes nothing. Every session it had is refused, and products end the sessions they derived from it.

Limits

Next action

If you signed out everywhere because of a suspected intrusion: sign in, set a new password if you use one, and check Ways to sign in for a method you do not recognize.
